Instead of a "corporate" About Us page, I thought I would speak to you directly. 

When I started Fletcher Cigar Company in 1997, I didn’t set out to create what we have here today. It happened organically. And how I entered the cigar industry and the experience and skill set I applied to it were not typical in the industry (this was true in 1997 and still remains true today).

Fletcher Cigar Company has been producing personalized custom cigars and cigar bands for 25 years.

My "entry point" into the cigar industry was a bit unusual and I will explain that a little further down this page. What is important to note is that this entry point brought with it advantages I wouldn't be aware of until a number of years later. But most importantly, it has shaped my vision of what personalized custom cigars should be both then and now.

And this unique vantage point has resulted in our current position as the producer of what I believe are the highest quality products in this niche corner of the cigar industry.

Yes, the personalized custom cigar niche is a small part of the overall cigar industry. But that's okay. I have enjoyed the journey in this space and continue to do so. And thru Fletcher Cigar Company, I also enjoy the knowledge that we offer the highest quality products in the “small-run” space (defined as orders of 500 or less).

We started the business in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and now operate from the Melbourne Florida area in Brevard County, known as the Space Coast. A beautiful area on the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Orlando in central Florida. And as an aside...it really is very cool to be able to watch rocket launches from your back yard. 

So, my entry point into the cigar business back in 1997 was as a marketing consultant. I was tasked to create a franchise program for a new small cigar company. After doing that, they then asked me to find a way to create small-run custom cigar bands. They had the cigar expertise. I had the technology and graphic design experience to create an efficient small-run production process.

A match made in heaven so-to-speak.

So…what did I learn rather quickly? Do what I do really well which is producing short-run personalized cigar bands (much better than anyone back in the late 90’s and frankly, still better than any of my competitors today). Hopefully, you will take a little time browsing our website and checking out our cigar band designs. After doing so I think you will come to the same conclusion.

The second part of that equation, let those that have grown tobacco and produced cigars for years and in some cases for generations (yeah…the real cigar experts) do the rest.

Really, after that I only had to learn how to spot a good working partner in a farm/factory. Yes, that did take time. And I did make a mistake or two (or three) early on. I got better and better at aligning with the right tobacco farm/factory and today the cigars we sell are the best we have ever offered and frankly, as good or better than any of our competition based on quality, value and price.

As an aside, I found I favor smaller farm/factory operations as I can more easily relate and forge a mutually rewarding business relationship.

Today Fletcher Cigar Company is working with a small family farm/factory in the Nueva Segovia Department of Nicaragua, located in northern Nicaragua close to the Honduras border. We were very lucky to have been introduced to them in 2017. Their cigars are a model of consistency & quality and offer big-time value across their product line. They supply our Standard Premiums and our Super Premiums. Thankful that I found them.

Our new (as of 2022) Elite Ultra Premium Line is named Small Batch Excellence. And the first of these is called A Moment In Time. This cigar has been blended exclusively for Fletcher Cigar Company by a Cuban-born Master Tobacconist based in Tampa and is produced in in his small shop. Can you imagine? Cool, right? This common-sense division of responsibility and expertise has stuck with me and continues to this day, resulting in a product that in my opinion is superior to our competition.

Sure, I have learned a thing or two about cigars along the way. But I also learned that I did not know anywhere near enough to master the art (and science) of producing a fine cigar. I will continue to let the experts do that while I continue to innovate and push the envelope of what small-run personalized custom cigar bands can be.

Our ultra-accurate computerized die-cutting that allows us to create new die-cut shapes at will, our 25 years of experience, our ability to print on gold and silver foil paper and our investment in high end laser and digital printers makes all the difference.

In the small-run space, our cigars bands just plain rock. And since I believe the cigars we source today are the finest you will find at each price point offered, the combined product (cigar and cigar band) we offer you today is a product that our competitors just can't match. But again, this is for you to decide.
